Experiments were carried out involving the injection of 30 kg of SF6 at
a height of 175 km and the injection of 15 kg of SF6 at a height of 193
km. Values of electron density measured via an impedance probe decreased
from (3-9) 10 exp 4/cu cm to (2-3) x 10 exp 2/cu cm (the lower
measurement level of the instrument in these experiments).
