A minority of EISCAT interplanetary scintillation observations exhibit velocities that are intermediate between those of fast and slow streams. These observations are presently interpreted as compression regions at the leading edge of corotating interaction regions (CIRs). The densities inferred from the modeling program for the intermediate velocity regions at the leading edge of CIRs are an average of the compression region and the low density fast stream.
