The present investigation is mainly concerned with the effects of the electron pressure on the quasi-parallel collisionless shock. It is shown that the inclusion of the electron pressure significantly improves the stationarity of the shock structure in the simulations. The simulation results are discussed, taking into account a plausible argument for the improvement of the stationarity in the simulation, the electrostatic potential, and an application of power spectral analysis to examine the large-amplitude upstream waves. The upstream whistler waves appear to play an important role in scattering the incoming ions.
