The aim of our investigations is to combine central star atmosphere modeling and nebular shell modeling to obtain self consistent descriptions of the nebulae. Therefore, nebulae with well modeled central stars and nearly spherically symmetric shapes (Rauch et al. 1999, A&A 347, 169) were selected, and the photo-ionization code Cloudy was used for the modeling of the nebulae. As an example, the planetary nebula NGC 2438 is presented. This type I planetary nebula exhibits a main nebula and three fainter shells which are regularly shaped and approximately equidistant. Thus, this nebula contains all the features of our model we want to check. We used different models for the central star, such as blackbody radiation, standard LTE and NLTE model atmospheres, and metal-line blanketed atmospheres, showing the influence of those models on the modeling of the nebular shells.
