The thermal conductivity of vapor-grown pseudodendritic snow crystals has been measured at -88°C, -27°C, and -5°C over a density range of 0.1 to 0.6 g cc-1 in a steady-state apparatus. Values are found to increase with increasing density and temperature. The measurements have allowed a more sensitive test to be made of a thermal conductivity model for porous media proposed by Woodside, and of an alternate model similar to one suggested by Wyllie and Southwick. The thermal conductivity equation that best represents the experimental data is a slightly modified version of the Woodside equation.
