The effect of a field of nonlinear Alfven waves experiencing instability on a fast magnetoacoustic wave (FMW) propagating across the magnetic field is studied theoretically. The coefficients of anomalous dissipation are expressed through correlators of longitudinal disturbances of the Alfven waves. An evolution equation which is satisfied by the field of the FMW is obtained. The applicability of this equation to interplanetary plasma is assessed.
