A numerical simulation of wind effects on the low-latitude F-region is presented. It is shown that meridional winds can induce a considerable change in the structure and dynamics of the low-latitude F-region both at night and in daytime. Specific wind effects in variations of maximum electron density (including the postsunset maximum and the postnoon decline) are identified. It is found that the traditional method for calculating thermospheric circulation on the basis of the Jacchia-77 model is not effective at low latitudes for nonequinox conditions.
