The theory of the effect of the transverse boundedness of an electron beam on the development of aperiodic instability is developed. This theory is used to evaluate the possibility of the creation of the radiant structure of an aurora due to the development of the aperiodic instability of an electron beam moving along the geomagnetic field in an arc or band that is initially homogeneous (i.e., prior to magnetospheric-substorm intensification).
