The spatial distributions of the density and temperature of charged particles in the polar ionosphere are calculated numerically for two models of the convection electric field corresponding to two different conditions of the IMF. A detailed solution is obtained for a system of equations of continuity, O(+) ion motion, and ion and electron heat conduction. The results are calculated for heights of 100-700 km above the earth surface by considering plasma in magnetic flux tubes moving along convection lines, which are determined by the Heppner (1977) A and B electric-field models. It is shown that the density distribution of charged particles in the polar ionosphere and the thermal regime of the latter vary with changes of IMF parameters.
