The paper develops a method for calculating confidence limits for different characteristics of short wave propagation in the disturbed ionosphere on the basis of the statistical properties of the medium. In addition to electron density data, the method uses an analytical approximation which incorporates information on F2-region critical frequency, the height of the F2-maximum, and F2 semithickness. It is found that confidence limits for jump lengths at high latitudes can extend for 1000 km and more, while at the same time in midlatitudes this value does not exceed 300 km.
