The MHD wave coupling between compressional and transverse modes is an important subject for the understanding of ULF pulsations. Existence of the magnetosheath and the solar wind flows greatly affects the dynamics of MHD wave propagation into the magnetosphere since the problem is reduced to an inhomogeneous three-layered medium. Some feature in this model includes: i) the ULF frequency shift arises owing to Doppler effect, which was previously discussed in the waveguide theory, and ii) relatively hot plasma in the magnetosheath region provides additional boundary effects. It is important to perform the exact calculation of reflection, transmission and absorption in such an arbitrarily inhomogeneous 3-layered space. We theoretically investigate the dynamics of compressional MHD wave and the mode conversion to transverse waves into the magnetosphere by using invariant imbedding method (IIM) which allows numerically exact calculations. We present how the resonant absorption depends on the mangetosheath flow speed. It is also studied that compressional waves may have cutoff band which permits no inward wave propagation for various parameters.
