An experimental study of the effect of low-frequency drift wave instability on Hall conductivity in plasma has been conducted using an electrostatic probe to measure the density, temperature and properties of the wave inside the plasma. An external oscillation is used to control the amplitude, and partly the frequency, of the spontaneously arising drift wave instability. Good agreement is found between experimental and calculated values of azimuthal drift currents at resonance and away from resonance, supporting the suggestion that the present effect is attributed to electron trapping by the wave potential.
