The potential and force due to a thin exponential model disk galaxy and a polytropic n = 4 model spherical galaxy have been determined, with application to the construction of simple galaxy models which are useful in the study of collision dynamics. It is shown that the potentials due to the sphere and the disk along the plane of the disk are equal at a distance of about 1/3R, where R is the radius of either configuration. The potential due to the sphere is shown to be greater than that due to the disk interior to this distance, and to be less than it beyond this distance.
