A method for simulating the effect of heavy multiply charged nuclei on large-scale integrated circuits is proposed which is based on the use of the fission fragments of Cf-252 isotope with energies of 50-100 V/micron. To demonstrate this method, it is used to investigate intermittent failures in two large-scale integrated circuits and a microprocessor. Details of the experimental procedure and results are presented.
