An analysis is made of the evolution of a highly elongated cylindrical plasma irregularity in the ionosphere characterized by uniform but sharply anisotropic conductivity. It is shown that the irregularity lifetime decreases if the Hall currents in the plasma are taken into account. The effect of these currents on the spread rate of the irregularity decreases as the inclination angle of the irregularity to the magnetic field increases.
