We investigate the effect of nonlinearity of the voltage current plasma characteristic on the damping rate of shear and compressional Alfvén waves in current-carrying plasmas. It is shown that the shear Alfvén wave experiences much stronger turbulent damping than compressional wave due to its effect on the level of ion acoustic turbulence excited by an external current.
