Gravitational radiation is considered within the first-order
approximation. A classical gravitational background yields transitions
between quantum electromagnetic states in a cavity. Orders of magnitude
are picked out from special patterns. The interest of second-order
effects is emphasized and experimental possibilities are sketched.
