ABSTRACT Orbital eccentricity in exoplanets has become a common occurrence in the known catalogue of transiting planets. Many of the most scientifically valuable transiting planets are eccentric; such as Gliese 436b (Gillon et al. 2007b) due its low mass and HD 17156b (Barbieri et al. (2007)) due to its large change in incident flux. Modeling the lightcurves of these transits requires a detailed description which can allow for the changing planet-star separation and orbital velocity. A full three-dimensional formulation is required (Kipping (2008)), which we briefly describe as well as examples of its application. Due to the asymmetrical nature of these lightcurves, the mid-transit time can become shifted off-centre, which has consequences for transit time variation methods. We also discuss the consequences of gravitational interactions between multiple planets and the possibility of long period timing effects which would result due to eccentricity pumping.
