We used cDNA microarray hybridization technology to monitor the transcriptional response of human T-lymphocytes to 5.5 minutes of microgravity during a MASER vector flight. We found that in T-lymphocytes from two different donors about 1-2% of the genes monitored show significant modulation in response to microgravity. Most of the modulations observed appear to be donor-dependent but the genes coding for the small cytokine A5 RANTES and the interleukin 10 receptor beta were found similarly modulated in the two different donors examined.
