The E- and F-regions over Washington, D.C., were examined for periodic variations near the 27- and 15-day periods. A noontime centered seven-hour average of the minimum virtual height h'E and the ordinary wave critical frequencies [latin small letter f with hook]0E and [latin small letter f with hook]0F2 were examined over an eight-year period. These averages, h', and respectively, were subjected to power- and cross-spectrum analysis. Nonseasonal variations in h' are not correlated with or . and have a strong 27-day periodicity between the maximum and minimum Zurich sunspot number and are in phase at this period. and are related and in phase at the 14·7-day period but neither nor has a 14·7-day periodicity indicated in their power spectra. and are a maximum at the 14·7-day period just after lunar transit. The phase relations are compared with earlier results.
