The fine structure of the dynamics of the center of the secular variation of the geomagnetic field in Europe is examined on the basis of an analysis of yearly magnetic maps for 1979-1984. A field jump of delta T, delta H, and delta Z were observed not only at European observatories but also at magnetic observatories elsewhere on earth. Variations of the Dst index, the sunspot number, and the energy delivered by the solar wind are found to be synchronous with the secular-variation jump.
