An algorithm and results of numerical simulation are presented for proton trajectories in the equatorial plane of the geomagnetic dipole in the presence of a nonuniform electric field. Attention is given to trajectories of auroral-energy protons which are injected from the plasma sheet or which diffuse from magnetic shells with small L values into the ring-current region. Results illustrate the dynamics of forbidden zones depending on the potential of magnetospheric convection and initial proton energy. It is shown that the forbidden zone can split up under certain conditions.
