Two characteristics of the smallest (femtogram) grains in Comet Halley's coma are ascribed to electrical forces on them, namely, their penetration to large distances with any remnants of envelopes eliminated, and the dispersion with grain size of dust jets in the inner coma. This is shown quantitatively for the data from VEGA-2, when the magnetic field was at a suitable orientation. It is inferred that grain potentials in the inner coma are a few V negative, appropriate to a hot (eV) halo to the electron distribution in addition to the main cool core.
