A method of dynamical zoning within a Lagrangian mesh is used to resolve the motion of the hydrogen ionization front in a time-dependent nonlinear model of a pulsating star. The resulting coupling with the radiative transfer improves the calculated light curves. The method is described in some detail and then applied to a model of the Cepheid eta Aq1.
