Analyses of data gathered by the Space Shuttle TRIS experiment have stimulated study of the anomalous component of the cosmic ray spectrum, as well as of the geomagnetic trapping of its constituent ions. Due to their high-Z/low-energy characteristics, solar particles are also partially ionized and result in a similar trapping of energetic solar particles. Attention is here given to estimates of the anomalous components' spectral shape, lifetime, and L-value distribution.
