A modified coupling scheme is proposed to calculate the thermal structures and the kinetics of olivine to wadsleyite phase transformation in subduction zones, which assures a high computational precision. The phase and thermal structures of some subduction zones in the western Pacific region are calculated. Computational results show that most subduction zones don't have large wedges of metastable olivine, which lets the mechanisms of transformational faulting have difficulty explaining deep seismicity.
