The current status of self-heating-type instrumentation for dynamic high-temperature measurements of the thermophysical properties of solids and liquids is surveyed, and the results obtained with various existing instruments are compiled in tables and compared. Systems with both msec and microsec resolution are examined, taking into account their limitations. Measurements discussed include hemispherical total emittance and normal spectral emittance.
