The effect of time and space variations in the source function of the gas at the nucleus of comets is introduced. Several models, including the monokinetic with Gaussian distribution, the Maxwellian with cosine distribution, and the monokinetic with cosine distribution, are compared with variations observed in the case of the comet Bennett. The observed bursts decay exponentially with various time constants and are directed toward the sun.
