New mechanical effects in the motion of viscoelastic bodies in a central Newtonian gravitational field are obtained with the aid of analytical and qualitative methods. In particular, attention is given to the evolution of the regular precession of a viscoelastic body in a gravitational force field and the evolution of an elliptical satellite orbit in the field of a deformable planet.
