We report preliminary results of 3-mm continuum and molecular line observations of candidate very young high-mass stars with the BIMA-array. We selected objects with high far-infrared luminosities identified by Kurtz et al. (1994) as UC-HII regions, but which they found to have very low radio luminosities at centimeter wavelengths despite their small (kinematic) distances. We describe objects that may be suitable for studying the properties of the molecular gas immediately around high-mass stars at the final stages of their formation, before the gas becomes too severely disrupted by the developing UC-HII region. We have, surrendipitously, discovered objects with luminous dust emission but no detectable ionized gas that may be candidates for either high-mass pre-main-sequence stars or high-mass protostars. The detailed study of such objects may prove important for our understanding of the process of high-mass star formation.
