Because of the small f-ratios available now by new figuring techniques
for large optics, the mountings of the next generation's telescopes will
become very compact. Thus, new designs of telescope enclosures have to
be created to take full advantage of saving volume and costs of the
building as well as reducing dome seeing and wind loads.
