Discrete symmetries are spontaneously broken by coupling a zero-spin
meson conformally to the scalar curvature of a Friedman open universe.
There is no symmetry restoration in the hot universe, so that domain
walls do not appear. The mechanism is illustrated in the case of CP
violation.
