Schild' has proposed a heuristic agrument which attempts, to show that
any gravitational red shift requires that the geometry of space-time be
curved. It is our intention to show that this argument is fallacious and
we believe that no argument which attempts to infer space-time curvature
solely from the gravitational red shift can be valid.
