Diverging Einstein-Maxwell null fields of Petrov type D, with zero or
non-zero cosmological constant, are considered. A proof is given that
the principal null direction of the Maxwell field is non-twisting.
Therefore all diverging solutions belong to the Robinson-Trautman
family.
