The diurnal variations of electron concentration in the topside ionosphere at low and middle latitudes are presented for two different seasons. The data show that at middle latitudes a secondary night-time maximum of electron concentration occurs at all heights between 400 and 1000 km. The mid-latitude daytime electron concentration at 800 and 1000 km is greater in local summer than at equinox.
