The analysis of diurnal and semidiurnal tidal components of the NmF2 parameter, for a north-south chain of stations, shows that the amplitude and phase follow the neutral temperature tide, with varying degrees of agreement. From a seasonal point of view, important departures from the temperature model evolution were observed during solstices, particularly for the semidiurnal component. The theoretical analysis of the evolution of the peak electron density tides shows that the chemical composition variation modulated by the neutral temperature governs the F-region peak electron density, while the neutral winds and electric fields might be responsible for the second order departures from equilibrium values.
