The effect of amplitude modulation on the intensity of very small-scale plasma stratification in the reflection region of a powerful ordinary radio wave is analyzed. The results obtained show that the nonlinear variation of the instability increment in this case leads to a peculiar hysteresis of the intensity of very small-scale plasma stratification as a function of modulation frequency. It is also found that under the appropriate conditions, a deep trough in stratification intensity may be produced over a certain range of nonzero modulation frequencies.
