Mixing ratio measurements of several stratospheric trace constituents were performed during the MAP/GLOBUS 1983 campaign by infrared and microwave techniques. The IR results indicate a wavelike disturbance in the stratosphere. Similar structures were also found by other experiments as cryo sampling, ion spectrometer, and various O3 measurements. In total 14 trace gases showed such disturbances. The wavelike structure extended up to the stratopause. Horizontal scale was of the order of 1000 km. The wave was observed during the whole campaign, i.e., for more than 3 weeks. Its period was about 10 days. Induced mixing ratio disturbances are discussed in terms of horizontal and vertical transports. Their magnitudes are correlated with the gradients of the mean vertical mixing ratio profiles for eight trace constituents. Implications of such wave structures for middle atmosphere in situ and remote sensing measurements are briefly discussed.
