Non-adiabatic features seen in distribution functions associated with fast flows are investigated. Several orbit tracing models have been developed, and show a clear difference in velocity space distributions associated with different width cross-tail electric fields. The features noted are expected to be visible in Geotail CPI data, and a search for suitable comparisons is now underway. Several events have been found using a search for high cross-tail electric field associated with high flux transport, and will be compared with the model orbit results.
