A relationship between the 21 cm line width W (km s-1) and the radius re to a discontinuity in the surface brightness profile of spiral galaxies was predicted by the Changing Universe Model, discovered, and used to calculate the distance to spiral galaxies. The square of the rotation velocity v_r^2 in the rising region of the HI rotation curve of spiral galaxies was predicted and found to be linearly related to the radius r with correlation coefficients of 0.99. A linear relation between re and the v_r^2 at its largest, measured value (v_m^2) was predicted and discovered. The v_m^2 - re relation was used to derive a distance D calculation equation using W and the measured angle A subtended by r_e. The equation is D=jW^k/tan(A) where j and k are constants with values depending on the range zone of W. The three range zones of W are W<246, 246440. The developed equation was tested on a sample of 34 galaxies with published distances Dc calculated using Cepheid variables. The correlation coefficient between D and Dc was 0.99.
