The dissipation of ducted, fast magnetoacoustic waves by ion viscosity,
electron heat conduction and radiation is re-considered and the results
show that these waves are not readily dissipated in the solar corona. It
seems unlikely, therefore, that they will play a role in the heating of
the solar atmosphere.
