The Nearby Supernova Factory reports the discovery of supernova SNF20061024-009 (coordinates RA 23:26:51.60 DEC +09:19:57.6 J2000.0) in images obtained October 24.2 UTC at an approximate magnitude of 19.4 (calibrated to R) using the QUEST II camera on the Palomar Oschin 48-inch telescope as a part of the JPL Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking component of the Palomar- QUEST Consortium. No supernova was visible at this location on October 9.
