The current generation of planetary astronomers is truly privileged. Not only have we been witness to the unveiling of the Solar System out to Neptune by ever-more-powerful groundbased facilities and various NASA, ESA, and Russian missions, but with the discovery of the Kuiper Belt has come the realization that a whole new populated region beyond Neptune awaits our exploration. We now know that tens of thousands of significant bodies orbit the Sun beyond Neptune, yet to date we have found only about 250 of these Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs). The KBOs promise fundamental insights into the physical and dynamical processes which over time have shaped the outer regions of the Solar System. However, to achieve these insights, we must first determine the dimensions of the belt, learn the distribution of KBOs of various dynamical types within the belt, and find a representative sample of brighter objects for which detailed physical studies are feasible with current telescopes. Here, we propose to continue our highly successful program with the Mosaic Cameras on the 4-meter telescopes at KPNO and CTIO.
