A technique for the interpretation of interferograms with a spatial carrier, based on a phase-lock loop method has been recently developed. This method is applied to the analysis of lateral shearing interferograms. The great advantage of this procedure is that there is no need for any explicit phase unwrapping, since this is implicit within the phase-locked loop method.
