Magnetic reconnection in the presence of differing inflow plasma conditions has recently been the subject of intense study. This so called asymmetric reconnection often occurs at the dayside magnetopause where magnetic fields can differ by a factor of three and densities can vary by a factor of 10. We simulate asymmetric magnetic reconnection using a kinetic PIC code for a range of inflow conditions in order to determine the factors controlling diffusion region structure. We also examine the effect of more realistic inflowing conditions including temperature anisotropy and multiple inflowing species.
