The effects introduced by a plane diffraction grating on a diffracted wave front when a quasi-plane beam is incident on it are calculated using ray tracing and approximate analytical expressions. Images corresponding to the center of the field of a parabolized Ebert spectrometer and in the paraxial plane due to grating effects are depicted. The latter include wave fronts representing four types of aberration: spherical, coma, astigmatism, and defocusing.
