Numerical simulations of 3D compressible convection in a local rectilinear geometry show that zonal and meridional mean flows, $\overline{u}(z)$ and $\overline{v}(z)$, can be produced when rotation is included. A wide variety of mean profiles can be achieved depending upon the parameters, including behaviour equivalent (within the limitations of the model) to that inferred from helioseismic solar observations.
