This paper considers the origin of isotope anomalies in extraterrestrial materials. Using experimental data on high-temperature distillation and sputtering experiments performed on pyroxene crystals, it was demonstrated that the isotopic composition of refractory elements can be modified by these processes in patterns that cannot be described by current models. It is suggested that, contrary to the prevailing current opinion that most of the isotope anomalies are related to nuclear processes in stars, a significant part of these anomalies can be traced to such physicochemical processes as high-temperature distillation and sputtering.
