At least in western countries, the days after the terrible South-East Asian Tsunami of December 26 2004, many media have publicized the fact that associated Earthquake would have caused an observable shift of the rotation pole over few minutes. Some scientists, probably excited by the magnitude of the event, believed to detect such phenomenon. Now what is the truth, four months having passed? As soon as 26 December we began our own investigations. We performed theoretical modeling of the effect and confronted it to the observations of the polar motion, collected at the Earth Rotation Service of the Paris Observatory. The conclusion shall be unveiled during our presentation.
