A method of hydromagnetic diagnostics of the magnetosphere is proposed which is based upon observations of Pc3-5 pulsations. It is demonstrated that remote monitoring of plasma density in a finite L range may be achieved by means of magnetic and electric observations at a single point on the earth's surface. The present technique is shown to have greater applicability than the gradient method of Baransky et al. (1985), which can only obtain plasma densities for a single magnetic shell. Typical results are presented for the case in which the point source is located at the Borok Observatory.
